Although Qrrl and Dace were successful in downing many Krath ships, the fleet took heavy losses and was forced to retreat. Also, another danger was growing elsewhere in the galaxy as a young Jedi named Exar Kun became fascinated by the Sith, and was on a mission to learn its secrets. These two issues were of grave concern for the Jedi, and a meeting of all Jedi Knights was called on the planet of Deneba to discuss these issues. Qrrl along with his fellow Jedi then left from Ossus to Deneba to discuss the evil growing in the galaxy.

At the convocation, Qrrl spoke of what he saw at Koros Major and the effectiveness of the Krath's battle fleet. The meeting was cut short however, when battle droids, sent by the Krath, landed at Mount Meru with orders to destroy the Jedi. In the ensuing battle, Qrrl fought along side his fellow Jedi to defeat the army of droids, and although they were successful, many Jedi died in the fight, including Jedi Master Arca Jeth. After the Battle of Deneba, Qrrl and his comrades returned to Ossus to organize a strategy for the war against the Krath. On Ossus, Qrrl worked with Jedi Knights such as Dace Diath and Cay Qel-Droma on the development and testing of a new type of snub fighter, the StarSaber, to be used in battle. During one such session, Nomi Sunrider came to the Jedi and explained how Jedi Knight Ulic Qel-Droma was failing at his mission to infiltrate the Krath, and was becoming seduced by its Dark Side practices.

With permission granted from the Jedi council n Ossus, Qrrl was part of a rescue team sent to Cinnagar to bring Ulic back. Infiltrating the Krath's citadel kamikaze style, Qrrl, Nomi, and Cay confronted Ulic, pleading with him to abandon his mission and return with them to Ossus before it became too late. Pushing them away, Ulic was resound in completing his mission and made his decision to stay. Realizing that Ulic must return with the Jedi willingly and forcing him to go would be in vain, Qrrl and the Jedi were forced to leave Cinnagar and return to Ossus.

Six months later, the galaxy was still at war, Ulic Qel-Droma was still allied with the Krath, and Exar Kun had pronounced himself Dark Lord of the Sith. Remaining on Ossus, Qrrl helped the Jedi with the war effort from there. Eventually, Qrrl traveled with his former master, Vodo-Siosk Baas, and a group of other Jedi to appeal to the Republic Senate to let the Jedi deal with the galactic threat, openly and however they felt was necessary. During the meeting with the Senate however, the Jedi and Republic was attacked by Ulic and a Dark Side fleet. During the battle, Qrrl and the Jedi went to work trying to down the ships that were raining fire down on the capital of the galactic government.
